The circular building in a little bit lower and to the left is Vancouver Public Library. It was cast as the headquarters of the evil corporation in “Sixth Day”, a flick with Arnold Schwarzenegger. So you can also file the map under Movie Locations : )
Correction: Up is North, not North West. Downtown Vancouver is on a grid that is 45 degrees rotated from the N-S, E-W grid of the rest of the city, due to the shape of the peninsula.
Really? That’s odd as the maps of other cities appear to be orientated so that north is up and south is down.
Saxifrage, I think Shreddies meant that up on the stamp is north-west 🙂
The Vancouver Post Office now has a new stamp on its roof – Vancouver, BC gets the 2010 Winter Olympics and the stamp is about the 2010 Olympics. Sorry No picture available as yet (by me I mean).
