On this day: Look for Circles Day
Sunday, 2nd November 2014 by Ian Brown
Apparently the internet has declared November 2nd 'Look for Circles' day, and we take our internet seriously around here, so we decided to try to find some circles on Google maps. Guess what … we found some! What you see here is a multitude of circles surrounding Garden City in Kansas. While they might look like alien markings, they are really farming operations formed by rotating watering systems.
We’ve actually got a strong history of circle-finding here at Google Sightseeing, and we don’t limit ourselves to just one day a year. Some of our past finds include stone circles such as Stonehenge and Avebury and elsewhere in England/France, circular particle accelerators, land art made from circles, a mystery circle in the Sahara Desert and the fairy circles of the Namib Desert. That should be enough circles to keep you dizzy all day!
