On this day: Monkey Day
Sunday, 14th December 2014 by Ian Brown
Who doesn’t love monkeys? Today is Monkey Day – a day to appreciate and celebrate all simians. Some of our favourites are these macaques relaxing in hot springs in Japan. We like them so much we did a full post about them a couple of years ago.
Monkey Day originated in 2000 as an artist’s joke at Michigan State University, but has since become an international celebration, with the modern iteration of King Kong being released on Monkey Day in 2005.
Other monkeys visible on Street View include Barbary macaques in Gibraltar and chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania.
